Once again York Chamber Music Festival is bringing to our city some of the most brilliant string players in Europe and the wonderful Russian pianist Katya Apekisheva.
Hear the wonderfully sumptuous string sextet by Schoenberg; we honour the memory of the genius Russian composer Dimitri Shostakovich playing his great String Quartet No 8 and the last notes he ever composed in his heart-rending Viola Sonata, finished only weeks before he died fifty years ago.
Hear duos, trios, quartets and quintets including music by Haydn, Mozart, Brahms, Frank Bridge, Schumann, Schubert, Tchaikovsky and Rebecca Clarke.
